Established in 1992, RAINBOW CENTRE is a voluntary organization registered with the Registry of Societies under the Charity Act to provide special education schools and services for children with special needs and their families. It is affiliated to the National Council of Social Service as a full member. Rainbow Centre currently runs two special education schools serving a total of more than 700 children with Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism, multiple disabilities and other developmental disabilities from ages 0 year to 18 years, and other programmes and services. We provide the following comprehensive range of services and programmes:
Rainbow Centre is staffed with a team of qualified, experienced and dedicated professionals comprising an Executive Director, school principals, special education teachers, speech language therapists, educational psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, music therapists, social workers, parent trainers, a family therapist, an outreach special education advisor and administrative staff. Rainbow Centre is governed by an elected Executive Committee headed by its President, Professor (Dr) Lee Eng Hin. The schools are governed by the School Management Committee (SMC) appointed by the Executive Committee. The current Chairman and Supervisor of the SMC is Professor (Dr) Lee Eng Hin. Dr Wee Kim Wee, the former President of Singapore, is the Honorary Patron of Rainbow Centre. Donations to Rainbow Centre are tax exempt.
