Special Education Teacher (Physical Development)
About the Role
a. Responsible for the quality delivery of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment of a specific subject area (Physical Development), as part of a curriculum team for that subject area, led by a Lead Teacher, and may include a Senior Teacher (Subject), and other teachers.
b. Enable direct teaching or co-teaching of the subject to students, and coordinating at programme level the teaching and assessment of the subject in the programme to ensure its quality delivery.
c. Facilitate development in the specific subject with engaging, differentiated and evidence-based practices, both independently and in team teaching.
d. Support teachers in the specific subject to evaluate and understand student needs, to develop appropriate individualised learning objectives and outcomes, and in adopting and adapting instructional strategies and accommodation.
e. Design, create, and share effective instructional plans, learning materials, and learning environments in the specific subject, independently and in collaboration with colleagues.
- Candidate is expected to possess relevant training and experience in teaching Physical Education to primary and secondary school students, and preferably students with special needs.
- GCE ‘A’ Level or Diploma (Polytechnic, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts or LASALLE College of the Arts) AND a NIE Diploma in Special Education or NIE Diploma in Physical Education is required.
Preferred achievements / characteristics:
- Teaching students with disabilities can be physically demanding – you may be lifting and carrying students and equipment and will be expected to clean and maintain equipment and facility. At all times, the teacher must take precautions to ensure the health and safety of students.
